Child Protection Issues
New legislation came into force in April 2005 called the “Protection of Children (Scotland) Act 2003. It is now illegal to recruit a new voluntary leader into your club without first, as part of your recruitment policy, obtaining a Disclosure check through an umbrella body.
CYP Scotland is a registered umbrella organisation, which can obtain free checks for our member clubs.
The recruitment policy is detailed in the package issued to all affiliated clubs entitled “Working with Young People”. The pack was raised when the “Police Act” came into force in 2001.
