International Football Scotland v Wales, 6th
May 2007 |
|
|
On a sunny but somewhat windy day in the heart of
Tayside (Dens Park to be exact) CYP Scotland hosted the invasion
of the Welsh for three International Football matches, and what
a day of football it was.
The proceedings commenced at 11am with the first
match between the 14s which was followed by the 16s match at 1pm
and the 18s at 3pm. An air of excitement preceded the kick-off
with parents cheering on their sons as they settled down to
watch a day of football.
At the 14s level some excellent football was
played by both teams but after 90 minutes Wales emerged the
winners beating Scotland 1-0.
At the 16s level Wales yet again kept up their
superb performance beating Scotland something to nil.
All was not doom and gloom however as the
Scotland 18s managed to salvage the day with a 1-0 win to retain
the Red Cross cup.
Three games of football, 270 minutes of
entertainment all played in the sportsman fashion it was meant
to be and a great day of football was had by all.
The proceedings now moved away from the park and
onto the Queens Hotel Dundee for a slap up meal and the
presentation of “the caps”
CYP Scotland will be looking for revenge in 2008
when they travel down to play Wales in the valleys.
If you are in any of the above age groups next
year and would like to play for Scotland make sure your club
enters you for the trials later this year. The 16s also play in
a four nation tournament against England, Wales and N. Ireland.

Report on the International
Football, 14s, 16s and 18s trip to Wales from the 29th April to 1st
May 2006.
The bus left Aberdeen at 04-50am
and was delayed for 20 minutes at Dundee with a player finally being
picked up on the Perth motorway, then onto Edinburgh. From there it
was the M8 to Strathclyde Park for the last pick-up. After smooth
motoring we arrived in Port Talbot, South Wales 40 minutes earlier
than expected.
The hotel accommodation was very
good and the food excellent, a swimming pool, steam room and gym
were available to all residents. On the morning of the 30th
breakfast was at 8am then it was of to the Afan Lidos ground in Port
Talbot. The 14s kicked off at 11am, the 16s kicked off at 1pm and
the 18s at 3pm. The 14s and 16s both drew 2-2 but the 18s won 1-0.
The overall result was that Wales retained the 14s and 16s cup
as they were the holders with Scotland retaining the 18s cup as they
were the winners and holders.
The civic reception was
excellent with all the players, both Wales and Scotland very smart
in their white shirts and respective ties. The players were
presented with their International football caps after beautiful
meal provided by the local council. The games were very close and
played in the Boys' and Girls' club sporting manner. A successful
trip for the BGCS.

Girls from
the
Mayfield Senior School in Pasadena, California played
the CYP Scotland Girls Squad in Ayr. The Scots girls won the
match 4 goals to 1. It was a very sporting game with good
skills shown by both teams. After the game they all had
lunch at Somerset Park courtesy of Ayr United. After that
the American girls headed to Hampden to see a game then they
were heading for Stirling to compete in a Tournament over
the next two or three days.
