Amateur Boxing Scotland has again refused to give this
organisation a permit to run our own Boxing tournament for the
coming year. (Letter of application below)
To avoid a long and
protracted series of nonsensical excuses from ABS they were
asked to reply to the application within a four week period.
This application was ignored and therefore this years event has
been cancelled. With no reason given for not issuing a permit,
to hold the championships, means that the young aspiring boxers
in Scotland are again denied an opportunity to develop by the
very organisation set up to help them.
This organisation will
continue to apply, each year, on young boxers' behalf to have
this UK wide opportunity reinstated. Sorry boys but maybe next
year!

Dear Sir,
I received a letter from Amateur Boxing Scotland Ltd., (ABS) in
2006 which informed this organisation that all communications
must be sent via your good offices.
I am formally applying to ABS
for a “permit” to enable this organisation to take part in the
forthcoming CYP Four Nation Boxing Championships. The Quarter
Finals are due to take place on the 28th February
2009, so the Scottish qualifying competition would obviously
need to be prior to this date convenient to ABS existing
events. The dates have been set by Amateur Boxing England and
cannot be changed. (see attached for full details)
If the request is turned down,
a list of the reasons/reason for rejection would be
appreciated. If no reply is received within a four week period
of the above date the non-action will be interpreted as a
negative response to the request for a permit.
It has always been the main
objective of this organisation to work in partnership with
other youth organisations for the benefit of young people in
their chosen sport.
Yours faithfully,
T Leishman
Chief Officer
